2015 UFC Middleweight Top 5 Rankings

   1. Luke Rockhold     


Rockhold wins the middleweight title and the number one spot with a late TKO win over Weidman. The win sets up a potential matchup against Romero for next year.

2. Chris Weidman        


 Weidman drops to number two after suffering his first loss to the man ranked above him, ending his title reign in the process. 

3. Yoel Romero      


The Soldier of God earns two big wins over Jacare and Machida to earn him a title shot next year.

4. Kelvin Gastelum 


Gastelum moves up to middleweight after failed attempts to make welterweight. His win over former title challenger Marquardt places him at number four. 

5. Anderson Silva 


The Spider returns to the octagon from his leg injury with a win turned to no contest against Nick Diaz. While he’s ranked again he is far from title contention.

   1. Anderson Silva    It wasn’t the best calendar year for him but Silva remains number one with his most lackluster title defense against Thales Leites as new challenges await him in 2010. 2. Nate Marquardt      Marquardt solidifies his number two spot by giving Maia the first loss of his career putting him on the shortlist of possible title challengers for the champion. 3. Demian Maia  Maia added a fifth submission win in a row with his win over Sonnen but in what looked like a title eliminator he suffered his first loss to the man ranked above him. 4. Chael Sonnen   Apart from a quick submission loss in his return to the UFC, Sonnen would rebound with wins over Okami and Dan Miller to secure a ranked spot.  5. Yushin Okami   Okami drops to number five after a disappointing loss to the man ranked above him.

1. Pat Miletich  Miletich adds two more title defenses to retain the number one spot and the welterweight title. 2. LaVerne Clark  Clark picks up two more wins, one by submission and one by TKO to move up to number two just behind the champion.  3. Mikey Burnett After almost winning the welterweight title last year, Burnett moves up to number three with yet another win at UFC 18.  4. Marcelo Mello Mello’s only UFC fight is a first round TKO win which is at least enough to place him at number four. 5. Matt Hughes  The future welterweight great makes his UFC debut in the top five with a win over Valeri Ignatov.

  These rankings are now up to date as of the end of 2023  1. Anderson Silva         The story has been told time and time again. Anderson Silva still has the record setting ten title defenses and a 16 fight winning streak which included four former world champions who were still in their prime. He would not only win, but he would win in devastating fashion. With the exception of two bad performances that everyone liked to talk about the rest of his fights were either won by a submission or spectacular knockout. 2. Robert Whittaker    At number two sits the Reaper himself, Robert Whittaker. If Silva was Franklins boogeyman, Adesanya was his as he would have had six title defenses by now and a 14-fight winning streak as well if the style bender didn't exist.
