2006 UFC Middleweight Top 5 Rankings

 1. Anderson Silva

Pride import Silva shocks the MMA world when he wins the middleweight title in devastating fashion after just two fights in the UFC.

2. Rich Franklin

Franklin earns the number two spot for successfully defending his title for a second time with a win over Loiseau, but a mystery Pride imported opponent with only one win in the UFC took his title and the number one spot almost out of nowhere.

3. Yushin Okami

Okami was one of several debuting middleweights who cracked the top five. He comes in at number three with three wins in a row, including a win over Starnes.

4. Kalib Starnes

Starnes won his UFC debut fight over TUF alumni Danny Abbadi but a loss to a future title challenger ranked above him keeps him at number four.

5. Jason MacDonald

Four wins in a row earned Macdonald a spot in the UFC where he went 2-0 with wins over Ed Herman and Chris Leben solidifying his number five spot.
