2022 UFC Heavyweight Top 5 Rankings
Post UFC Fight Night: Cannonier vs. Strickland
1. Francis Ngannou
Beating undefeated interim champion Gane, with a torn knee, to unify the titles, gets him the number one spot.
2. Ciryl Gane
A lack of takedown defense costs Gane the undisputed title, but he would rebound by ending the winning streak of Tuivasa later that year.
3. Curtis Blaydes
Perhaps a bit of luck places Blaydes back in the top five as ranked contender Aspinall suffers an injury seconds into their fight, but he at least seems to be back on track going 2-0 this year.
4. Tom Aspinall
Aspinall looked to be just one win away from a title shot after beating Alexander Volkov, but his last fight ended with an injury that left him out of action for several months.
