2021 UFC Heavyweight Top 5 Rankings

Post UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Daukaus

1. Francis Ngannou

Ngannou used a more relaxed approach to take the heavyweight title from Miocic, he would then have contract disputes with the UFC, not fighting the rest of the year.

2. Stipe Miocic

The most dominant champion’s reign came to an end in a rematch that saw him go to the second round against the heavy hitting Ngannou.

3. Ciryl Gane

Gane went a perfect 3-0 and remained undefeated beating nothing but ranked contenders Jairzinho Rozenstruick, Alexander Volkov and Lewis to earn the interim title and set up a title unification match for next year.

4. Derrick Lewis

Lewis’ upset win over Blaydes gets him a spot back into the top five and would set up an interim title fight against the then undefeated Gane. He would struggle to land any meaningful blow losing by a combination of fatigue and volume strikes. He rebounded with a Daukaus win before the year came to an end.

5. Curtis Blaydes

Blaydes was thought to be next in line for a title shot after Ngannou, but a surprise uppercut knockout loss to Lewis set him back. He would rebound with a win over Jairzinho Rozenstruick before the year ends, but he still drops to number five.
