2018 UFC Light Heavyweight Top 5 Rankings

  Post: UFC 232 - Jones vs. Gustafsson 2 

1. Jon Jones 

 Over a year later, Jones returns to reclaim the light heavyweight title, beating the best guy in the division in Gustafsson with Cormier returning to heavyweight.

2. Daniel Cormier  

DC’s final light heavyweight fight was a successful title defense against Volkan Oezdemir, and with Jones returning from suspension and DC winning the heavyweight title, he wouldn’t return to light heavyweight next year.

3. Alexander Gustafsson 
Gustafsson’s previous win over Blachowicz keeps him here at number three by default as his lone fight was a title fight loss to Jones for the vacant title, in a fight that was nowhere near as competitive as their first fight. 
4. Jan Blachowicz  
Błachowicz debuts at number four for extending his winning streak to four wins in a row, this time against Jimi Manuwa and Nikita Krylov. These wins put in contender status for the first time in his UFC career. 

5. Anthony Smith 

Lionheart got wins over former light heavyweight champions Rashad Evans and Shogun Rua this year which landed him a title eliminator against Oezdemir in which he would win by submission and land in the top five. Next stop is Jon Jones for the title next year.

1. Pat Miletich  Miletich adds two more title defenses to retain the number one spot and the welterweight title. 2. LaVerne Clark  Clark picks up two more wins, one by submission and one by TKO to move up to number two just behind the champion.  3. Mikey Burnett After almost winning the welterweight title last year, Burnett moves up to number three with yet another win at UFC 18.  4. Marcelo Mello Mello’s only UFC fight is a first round TKO win which is at least enough to place him at number four. 5. Matt Hughes  The future welterweight great makes his UFC debut in the top five with a win over Valeri Ignatov.

Anderson Silva still has the record setting ten title defenses and a 16 fight winning streak which included four former world champions who were still in their prime. He would not only win, but he would win in devastating fashion. With the exception of two bad performances that everyone liked to talk about the rest of his fights were either won by a submission or spectacular knockout. 2. Robert Whittaker    At number two sits the Reaper himself, Robert Whittaker. If Silva was Franklins boogeyman, Adesanya was his as he would have had six title defenses by now and a 14-fight winning streak as well if the style bender didn't exist.
