2014 UFC Light Heavyweight Top 5 Rankings

 Post: UFC Fight Night - Machida vs. Dollaway 

1. Jon Jones 

This year was one of Jones’ weakest showing, only defending his title once this year, albeit an excellent performance. But another injury delayed his rematch with Gustafsson for next year, ending the year anticlimactically.
2. Anthony Johnson  
Rumble Johnson returned to the UFC in a big way, upsetting Davis and knocking out Antonio Nogueira. Both wins put him one fight away from a title shot. 
3. Phil Davis  
Davis drops to number three not prepared for the takedown defense of Johnson, forcing him to stand with him as he picked him apart. But he would rebound with a win over Teixeira preventing him from dropping any further down.

4. Glover Teixeira 
It was not a good year for Teixeira as he lost both of his fights this year. Though he was never in real danger, Jones was always one step ahead of him in their fight and Davis upsets him by out grappling him to a decision loss. 
5. Ryan  Bader 
Bader remains at number five this year beating two more fighters he’s expected to win in Rafael Feijao and Ovince St. Preux. With losses to two of the four fighters above him it’s hard to justify anything higher.

Chael Sonnen   Apart from a quick submission loss in his return to the UFC, Sonnen would rebound with wins over Okami and Dan Miller to secure a ranked spot.  5. Yushin Okami   Okami drops to number five after a disappointing loss to the man ranked above him.

1. Pat Miletich  Miletich adds two more title defenses to retain the number one spot and the welterweight title. 2. LaVerne Clark  Clark picks up two more wins, one by submission and one by TKO to move up to number two just behind the champion.  3. Mikey Burnett After almost winning the welterweight title last year, Burnett moves up to number three with yet another win at UFC 18.  4. Marcelo Mello Mello’s only UFC fight is a first round TKO win which is at least enough to place him at number four. 5. Matt Hughes  The future welterweight great makes his UFC debut in the top five with a win over Valeri Ignatov.

  These rankings are now up to date as of the end of 2023  1. Anderson Silva         The story has been told time and time again. Anderson Silva still has the record setting ten title defenses and a 16 fight winning streak which included four former world champions who were still in their prime. He would not only win, but he would win in devastating fashion. With the exception of two bad performances that everyone liked to talk about the rest of his fights were either won by a submission or spectacular knockout. 2. Robert Whittaker    At number two sits the Reaper himself, Robert Whittaker. If Silva was Franklins boogeyman, Adesanya was his as he would have had six title defenses by now and a 14-fight winning streak as well if the style bender didn't exist.
