2013 UFC Light Heavyweight Top 5 Rankings

Post: UFC 168 - Weidman vs. Silva 2

1. Jon Jones

Jones remains number one defending the title twice under two different circumstances. He made short work of former middleweight Chael Sonnen and had a very difficult fight against new challenger Alexander Gustafsson.
2. Phil Davis
Davis went 2-0 this year beating Vinny Magalhaes that does nothing for him, while winning a controversial decision win over Machida that sees him move up to number two but many believed he should have lost that fight.
3. Lyoto Machida
Machida should have finished the year with two wins which would have left Jones no choice but to accept a rematch with him as he beat the number one contender Dan Henderson. However he felt the controversial loss Davis would set him back so far that he opted to drop to middleweight later that year.

4. Glover Teixeira
Teixeira debuts at number four after beating both Rampage and Bader to earn him the next shot at the title next year.
5. Ryan  Bader
Bader starts and finishes the year beating Vladimir Matyushenko and Anthony Perosh, two guys he’s supposed to beat. But his loss to Teixeira drops him further down the rankings.
