2008 UFC Light Heavyweight Top 5 Rankings

 Post: UFC 92 - The Ultimate 2008

1. Thiago Silva

Thiago Silva retains his undefeated record adding a stoppage win over Antonio Mendes which put him one way from a title shot next year.
2. Anderson Silva
Anderson Silva’s cameo at light heavyweight ends with a one minute knockout of Irvin putting him at number two.
3. James Irvin
A seven second superman punch knockout win against Houston Alexander earns Irvin an unlikely number three spot. But this win would set up a disastrous loss to the then middleweight champion.
4. Rashad Evans
Evans remained undefeated knocking out Chuck Liddell and beating Forrest Griffin later that year to close out the light heavyweight champion. Unfortunately for him, upset wins from Irvin and a surprise appearance from the middleweight champion Silva reduces him to only the number four spot.
5. Eric Schafer
Schafer was brought back to the UFC to lose to Houston Alexander in his hometown in order to get Alexander back on track, instead he had other plans, as Schafer exposed his submission defense, choking him out and earning the number five spot.
