2001 UFC Light Heavyweight Top 4 Rankings

Post: UFC 34 - High Voltage

1. Tito Ortiz

This was arguably the best year in Ortiz’s light heavyweight title reign. Ortiz defended his title three times, continuing his ruthless assault on the division, stopping both Evan Tanner and Sinosic in the first round but had an unlikely slow difficult fight with Matyushenko. Nonetheless, the number one spot without a doubt goes to him.

2. Elvis Sinosic

Sinosic’s upset win over former title challenger Horn earned him a title shot against Ortiz and this number two spot, but Ortiz proved to be too much for him, elbowing Sinosic to a TKO loss.

3. Jeremy Horn

It was not a great year for Horn. Horn was 4-0 going into 2001 but his lone fight this year was a submission loss to UFC newcomer Sinosic.

4. Chuck Liddell

Liddell went into this year riding a four fight winning streak. He then went 2-0 in the UFC knocking out former heavyweight champion Kevin Randleman and winning a decision over future middleweight champion Murilo Bustamante. The Iceman era is about to begin.
