1996 UFC Heavyweight Top 5 Rankings

Post Ultimate Ultimate 1996

1. Dan Severn

Severn only fought once but he made it count, avenging his loss to Shamrock and winning the Superfight title in the process. And with Gracie gone, this would determine who was number one.

2. Ken Shamrock

Shamrock went 2-1 in the octagon, but unfortunately for him, his lone loss cost him the Superfight title to Severn, costing him a potential number one spot.

3. Mark Coleman

Perhaps one person made a bigger splash than Frye and that’s Coleman, going a perfect 5-0, winning two tournaments earning him a title shot versus Severn.

4. Don Frye

No one made a bigger splash than Frye, winning two of the three tournaments he took place in, the only thing holding him back is his lone loss to Coleman to claim all three.

5. Scott Ferrozzo

Ferrozzo makes his one of only appearance in the top 5 winning his first two fights in the tournament which led him to the finals versus Coleman but he pulled out due to injury.
